"Cookies and Conversation" Event with Biden on Friday

DMD highlighted her thoughts on Sen. Joe Biden's campaign for the presidency yesterday and they're definitely worth a read.  If you're curious to learn more about Biden and judge DMD's conclusions on your own with firsthand experience, then make sure to check out Biden when he's in town on Friday.  Here are the quick details of an event he'll be at:

U.S. Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., will be the featured guest at the July 13 IowaPolitics.com-Drake University “Cookies and Conversations with the Candidate” event at the State Historical Building in Des Moines, at 600 E. Locust Street in Des Moines, Iowa.

Biden, a Democrat, is making his second presidential run. He also was a candidate in 1988. He was elected to the U.S. Senate at the age of 29.

Biden is the third presidential candidate to speak at the IowaPolitics.com-Drake series. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, a Republican, and New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, a Democrat, have also attended the events.

IowaPolitics.com Bureau Chief Chris Dorsey will moderate the Friday, July 13 event, which starts at 11:30 a.m. in the historical building auditorium. Questions will also be accepted from audience members.

Doors will be open at 11 a.m. and reservations are required. Please call 515.271.3747 or send an e-mail to iowacaucuses@drake.edu as seating will be limited.

The July 13 event will be held at the Historical Building to help note the kick-off of the state's “Caucus Iowa” exhibit. The exhibit will open later this fall and feature photos and memorabilia from the past 30 years of Iowa's First-In-The-Nation Caucuses.

The event is free and is designed to educate Iowans about the caucuses and give them an opportunity to meet presidential candidates. The candidates' favorite cookie and beverages will also be served.

Free parking is available at a parking garage located at Pennsylvania and Grand Avenue. On-street parking also is available.
