Fallon Endorsed by STAR*PAC
Today, Ed received the endorsement of Stop the Arms Race Political Action Committee (STAR*PAC).
In their press release, STAR*PAC stated, "STAR*PAC believes it is time for real change in the direction of our country. The times cry out for strong, progressive leaders who will bring common sense as well as fresh vision to the U.S. role in a perilous world. We need leaders who will represent a new direction for America in how we relate to the world, who will champion a more engaging and diplomatic approach, and who will advocate less reliance on military solutions."
"STAR*PAC believes that Ed Fallon understands the challenges we face in the 21st century and is the best-equipped candidate to represent the Third District in the difficult times ahead."
Additionally, they stated, "we remain concerned that Rep. Boswell has too often supported the Administration's war policy by voting to authorize the war, and voting to continue funding without timelines for troop withdrawal."
Fallon says, "I'm honored to receive this endorsement from STAR*PAC, one of many groups that work hard to promote peace and global security."
"As a member of Congress, I will work to end the Iraq War and bring our troops home," Fallon said. "As of March 4th, 2008, the number of American military casualties in Iraq stood at 3,974, not to mention the almost 100,000 Iraqi civilians that have died in the war. It's time Iowa had a Congressman who's willing to challenge President Bush and end this war," said Fallon.
Since 1980, STAR*PAC has worked to oppose war, advocated against the weapons race and exorbitant military spending, and tackled many foreign and military policy issues. It works to elect candidates with the strongest commitment and strongest records for waging peace.
In 1984, STAR*PAC helped elect Tom Harkin to the U.S. Senate. Harkin said: "STAR*PAC played one of the most instrumental roles to my being elected to the U.S. Senate."
In regards to Ed Fallon, STAR*PAC central committee member, Chet Guinn says, "It is exciting to know that we will have an opportunity to elect a congressman in the mold of Tom Harkin, Bruce Braley and Dave Loebsack."
Since Ed does not take contributions for PACs or Washington lobbyists, he will not accept a contribution from STAR*PAC. However, contributions from individuals are acceptable.
