Another reason to vote for Obama

Apparently James Dobson is starting to reverse his stance that he just won't vote if McCain gets the Republican nomination.

“I never thought I would hear myself saying this,” Dobson said in a radio broadcast to air Monday. “… While I am not endorsing Senator John McCain, the possibility is there that I might….Barack Obama contradicts and threatens everything I believe about the institution of the family and what is best for the nation. His radical positions on life, marriage and national security force me to reevaluate the candidacy of our only other choice, John McCain.”

I am so looking forward to the religious right not having a stranglehold over supreme court nominations.

  • I still hope a lot of them stay home

    and if McCain chooses Romney (a strong running mate in some respects), I definitely think a lot of evangelical Christian conservatives will stay home.

    No need to be coy, Roy: if this race isn’t yet about race, it will be. There seem to be two and only two possibilities. We could wake up the morning after the election in a country with a black president. A black president! Or we could wake up in a country in which a man lost an election because he’s black.

    I would never (well, almost never) say that people should vote for Obama because he’s black. But I would say that people should vote for him because he’s up against a campaign of racial fear, because a loss would likely exacerbate racial tension. To let him lose is to let fear win. Failure, as they say, is not an option.

    Add that to the list of reasons that even Democrats who don’t like Obama should vote for him.
