Nov. 24 – Special Election for Iowa State House District 33 (Cedar Rapids)

Iowa is holding a special election to fill the seat of retiring Representative Dick Taylor, a Democrat, who represents a portion of Cedar Rapids.

Party leaders from the Democratic and Republican Parties picked their nominees for this special election. Democrats chose Kirsten Running-Marquardt. A former aide to Congressman David Loebsack, more can be found out about Running-Marquardt here.

Republicans nominated Josh Thurston, an Iraq War veteran and Cargill employee.
