Have to be MEGA RICH to Party with Culver?

I saw this on a couple of blogs and it really makes me angry.

I know Iowans who are really struggling because of this economy and yet on the day that Chet Culver does a big budget cut, he holds a private fundraiser for his re-election campaign.

This is terrible.  Terrible.

This plus the smoking ban and I'm not a very happy camper.  Sure wish we had Mike Blouin instead of Chet going in 2010.

$5000?  Really?  $25,000?  WOW.  Lots of really RICH Democrats I guess.  Holy smokes.  Democrats used to be like me: blue collar and working but I guess I didn't know they could just roll up in limos.

Here is what I saw on Century blog:

  • you think Republicans don't have these parties?

You really think this is just a Democratic problem?

And you really think this wouldn’t be happening with Blouin? Are you kidding? He had more big money connections than Culver does.

This is why we need to get money out of politics.

My brother in Arizona has a friend who attended the McCain/Palin election night event in Phoenix. To get in the door you had to have donated $4,600 to the McCain campaign (maxed out for the primary and general election). That didn’t even get you into the room where McCain and Palin were. I forgot how much you had to have raised for McCain or donated to the RNC to get into that room.

If I’ve written it once, I’ve written it a dozen times, we need a voluntary public financing system, as they have in Maine and Arizona. But as I recall from previous comments, you are against the VOICE act. Please correct me if I am wrong.

If it makes you feel any better, I imagine the freezing rain kept a bunch of those $5K donors away from Culver’s party tonight.

    • Dont feed the troll.

He hasnt said a decent thing about Democrats since he came on here.

He is for free markets and against Bail-outs and yet Spence gets his undies in a bunch whenever people want to spend there own money, and to make matters worse, he is in awe of the same Chuck Grassley that supported these bailouts.

Yeah and by the way, do you even know who Mike Blouin is Spence, or did you just look up the 2006 Primary results?

Blouin makes Culver look blue collar, you need to do research Spence

      • in theory, you are correct

It’s better not to feed trolls.

On the other hand, Bleeding Heartland has readers who don’t live in Iowa and don’t know anything about Blouin (and therefore don’t understand how absurd Spencer’s comment is).

  • if you'd come to the Val Air Ballroom

a couple of weeks ago, you could have partied with Culver for $35 a person ($50 per family, $10 per student):

  • Troll?

    Is that a blog term?

I honestly do not know what you mean.
