• as a Fallon voter

in the 2006 gubernatorial primary and the 2008 third district primary, I wouldn’t advise him to run against Grassley. That would frankly not be a good use of his time. I would rather see him help elect better Democrats to the Iowa legislature.

    • I See your point...

I supported Ed in the primary against Boswell. I see your point that maybe a third race might not be the best idea. Is there anyone to challenge Boswell?

      • no one will challenge Boswell

I haven’t heard anything about it, and anyway his voting record has improved in the past year.

Everyone’s waiting to see what happens with redistricting. Probably Boswell will be thrown into a redrawn 3rd with Latham, which would be less than ideal.

        • Latham?

why is that less than ideal. I am new to politics in Iowa so I am just asking.

          • Latham overperforms his district

meaning, he consistently does better in his district than Republicans at the top of the ticket do. Latham sits on the House Appropriations Committee and brings home a lot of money.

Boswell has been underperforming his district lately. Although the redrawn IA-03 is likely to lean Democratic in terms of voter registration, I don’t like our odds with Boswell as our candidate–especially if the new district includes many counties in Latham’s current district.

    • There will be a big candidate to challenge Grassley...

…and this candidate will blow your mind.  It’s a very big name, and he/she hasn’t even been hinted as of yet.
