Please Help Retire Steve King

This is to introduce you to Mike Denklau, who is running to retire Steve King Rep. 5th District Iowa.

Mike has a web site at Denklau for Congress. It does a good job of laying out his view and who he is and what he believes in and wants to do to help Iowans in these trying times.

He also has an entry on Act Blue. Here is the address to his act blue page, http://www.actblue.com/entity/fundraisers/23238.

I will do my best to answer your questions in the comments, I have been volunteering for Mike for several months, and he is a young, energetic, intelligent, man who I believe will do a very good job of representing Western Iowa.

Where to begin to describe this man?

I think I will let him tell you himself.

A MESSAGE FROM MIKE: I’m running for Congress because I want to make a difference in my state at this critical time in our nation’s history. With so many people struggling, it’s time to move beyond partisanship and political gridlock to reach consensus on the issues that matter most to Iowans. In short, Iowans deserve sensible and pragmatic leadership. As an Iowan born and raised in a small farming community, I understand first-hand the enormous challenges before us. As a leader from the world of global business and economics, I have the experience and understanding necessary to tackle the tough issues we all face. This election is about moving our 5th District community, our state, and our nation forward. It’s time to take advantage of our greatest strengths: Iowa values and the Iowa work ethic. Please join me in my campaign for new leadership and let’s make a difference together!

In order to give you even more information on Mike and his views, this is the link to an interview done by Iowa Guy 2 and posted on Blog for Iowa, to give you a better look at Mike's views. • Sorry about the links, I didn't know how to make them work without copy and paste.

  • I'd like to hear more about Denklau

Whatever we do,  we’ve got to do something about Steve King.  Did you see him Sunday?  He was hanging over the balcony of the Congressional offices,  with a big pix of Pelosi,  and he was egging all the tea baggers on by acting as if he was wiping her off the flag.  I suspect that he’s probably the farthest right of anybody I know of in  Congress.  Has anybody noticed that the Congressman/women are nuttier than the Senators?  Maybe its just the things I’ve read/.  There is King, Bachmann and a few others that are just one bulb short of a full string of lights.  Senators are just out cheating on their wives,  and there are more in C Street.  But  the congressman/women just seem really “out there”.

I went to a Denklau site and he seems pretty good.  Is he a Centrist or Progressive?  A lot of people elected are centrists.  I tend to lean farther left than that.  Bernie

Sanders is my idea of a good Senator.  I wish we had more like him.

    • Mike is probably more of a centrist than you would like,

but he is trying to get elected in the reddest part of Iowa.  He is a very intelligent, energetic man who will do a good job for Iowa with our help.

I did see Steve King on Sunday, and all it did was make me more determined than ever to do every thing I can to get him out of office.

Mike is a good man, if he wasn’t, I wouldn’t be volunteering for his campaign. If we help him he can win, but he needs money and volunteers and all the things campaigns need to win.  If you can, help him any way you can.

      Thanks, Denise

      • Another thought,

if you can get to the interview that I talked about at the end of my diary, it may answer some of your questions.

        Denise

  • I've met Mike as well

He’s a young guy with a bright future. He needs to get through the primary to take on King. I know he can win the primary, no one has heard of the other guy. Mike and his staffers have done a great job getting his name out early on. I think if the State Democrats want a winner, they need to really look at Mike. He can win. King does not represent West Iowa well. I have a hard time believing that my neighbors think what King thinks. Denklau can get the win. It’ll take some money and media and a lot more hard work to get him there but it can be done.
