A few days ago the Sioux City Journal ran an article on an internal struggle within the Woodbury County Republican Party.  I want to know if any other county Republican Parties are have this type of issue or if it just people on the west coast of Iowa.

Every now and again I flip on c-span late at night and see what is happening.  I always enjoy checking out the special order speeches.  As I am typing right now, Rep. Steve King just finished speaking.  This is the second time, I am aware of, he has given a special order speech this week.  Thinking about his recent speeches on c-span, his recent vote against the slavery memorial, which included a lot of media coverage and any other media work he may have done this week.  Makes me wonder what he is up to.

Is he trying to get more attention to make a run for governor?

Does he feel left out since Sen. Grassley has been in the news a lot with the health care work going on?

I thought he jumped off the deep end long ago, but he seems to be more active then usual. 

Any thoughts to his recent activity?

In a recent article in the Sioux City Journal Ed Fallon calls out Governor Culver’s lack of returning messages. Not returning calls is not the issue. Is Fallon’s complaint just the tip of the iceberg and are other Iowa Democrats not happy with the Governor? I am sure there are some, but is there enough to actually try and primary the sitting Governor. The Des Moines Register did have some so-so poll numbers the other day. What are your thoughts?

Exchange of the Day

At yesterday's Senate Budget Committee markup of the fiscal year 2010 budget resolution:

Sen. Kent Conrad (D-ND): “Oh, you are good.”

Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA): “Well, your wife said the same thing.”

According to the Huffington Post, the exchange came after Grassley, the ranking Republican on the committee, pressed Chairman Conrad to include an amendment of his.

President Bush has had many Bushisms throughout his term in office. He did not let us down with another Bushism in his final press conference.

Through it all, it's been — I have respected you. Sometimes I didn't like the stories that you wrote or reported on. Sometimes you misunderestimated me.

Misunderestimated has been used by President Bush a few times before as well.

I also enjoyed one of his metaphors.

I wasn't kidding when I said Wall Street got drunk and we got the hangover.
