Obama in Ames

Barack Obama is coming to Ames, by way of Springfield, Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, and (maybe) Iowa Falls.  Ames is going to be the big event of the tour, and I am helping give away tickets for the  event in the Iowa State Memorial Union.  In just under an hour we’ve given away 232 tickets at this one location.  That is about 182 more than I expected.  Students are stoked for this guy.

    2700 tickets given away by noon Thursday.  Today from 10am to noon we signed up another 309 attendees (like 100 people averaging 2 guests) at the memorial union.  This thing is going to be pretty big I think.  🙂

      • Yes, you need a ticket.

        But they moved it to Hilton Colliseum so there should be loads of space available for last minute tickets getters like me.

        Looks like two locations available on Sat morning for last minute tickets.

          Well, given that this is Sunday you can’t get tickets.  However, a quick call to Hilton and I find out that tickets are no longer required.

    • any sense of how many are students

      and how many just live in Ames or somewhere else in central Iowa?

      I am wondering whether this is going to be mainly a student rally.
