from an Iowa Interfaith Power and Light e-mail:

Next week could be a very exciting time for Iowa Interfaith Power & Light – but we’re going to need your help to make it so!  At times we get so caught up in the hectic schedule of our daily life, the stress of special religious days, or the pressures of caring for Creation and the ‘least among us’ that we lose touch with our Creator and the people around us who enrich our life in so many ways.  We need time to celebrate, pray, and learn.  And IIP&L hopes to offer that next week with a candlelight vigil, a movie, and workshops on creation care and our energy system.  In order to make these events powerful, enriching, and rewarding, we need your help to spread the word to others and join us for a few moments of your day.  If you can’t join us at one or more of these events, please email your friends and coworkers or join us in spirit.  Thank you very much.  With your help, Iowa Interfaith Power & Light will begin our work for the year with renewed vigor and the strength of God and community.  Please email iowaipl@gmail.com or call Mark at 319-621-7393 to let us know if you will be able to attend.

These events will also be a great time to share things that you or your organizations will be doing with others who are interested in the same ideas.

Thursday, March 27th, 7:30 PM

Candlelight Vigil at Nollen Plaza in downtown Des Moines

Share prayers, songs, or your own personal story with your neighbors as we pray that our elected officials take action to protect the planet and our brothers and sisters around the world who are suffering from global warming and poor energy decisions.

Friday, March 28th, Time TBA

Screening of the film “Renewal” about the faith-based movement concerned about the environment, food and drink, and discussion

Dowling Catholic High School, Des Moines

Check out www.renewalproject.net for more information about this great film.  Relax, eat, and learn!

Saturday, March 29th, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM (Times flexible and subject to change depending on attendees – please RSVP!)

Dowling Catholic High School, Des Moines

As Iowa Interfaith Power & Light moves forward, we’re planning to train new volunteers in giving presentations about faith, the environment, global warming, and creation care, in helping support Iowa Interfaith Power & Light’s efforts, in doing Cool Congregations trainings, and many other ways you can work with IIP&L.  If you’re interested in getting more involved with IIP&L this is a great chance to work with a small group of committed individuals to develop your presentation skills, learn more, or find new ways to support our mutual work.

We hope that you will be able to join us for one or more of these events.  For those of you who are outside of Des Moines (or if you know people outside of Des Moines that would like to come), IIP&L will provide some assistance with travel and housing costs.  We will also provide food and drinks at the events.

Thank you again for all of your efforts and support of Iowa Interfaith Power & Light.  Please let others know about these events and have anyone email iowaipl@gmail.com for more information or to let us know you will be coming.

Blessings,

Mark Kresowik
