Iowa Power Fund holding public meeting in Jefferson on July 9

I didn’t find out about this meeting soon enough to add it to my weekly calendar of events, but I wanted to let you know that the Iowa Power Fund is holding a public forum in Jefferson (Saint Joseph’s Parish Hall at 501 North Locust Street) at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9.

Earlier that day, the Power Fund directors are meeting in Jefferson to consider four requests for funding.

More details about both meetings are after the jump.

The Power Fund is scheduled to hold public forums in Mount Vernon on August 13, Algona on September 10, and possibly in Decorah in October, Sioux City in November, and somewhere in southeastern Iowa in December.

Iowa Power Fund Board Public Meeting

July 9, Jefferson

The Iowa Power Fund board of directors will hold the first of three regular meetings to be held around the state on July 9 in Jefferson.  This meeting, as well as the other two summer meetings of the Power Fund directors, will be followed by an evening public forum on energy issues.

The July 9 meeting of the Power Fund directors will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Saint Joseph’s Parish Hall at 501 North Locust Street in Jefferson.  The July meeting will include presentations by four applicants for funding.  They will include: the City of Fairfield for a municipal sustainability effort, the Renewable Energy Group for  biodiesel alternative feedstock research, Maharishi University for an algae bioreactor, and Poet for cellulosic ethanol development.

The July 9 public forum begins the second in a series of annual forums hosted by the Office of Energy Independence which began with four public forums last October.  They were held in Council Bluffs, Fort Dodge, Des Moines, and Coralville.  The forum in Jefferson will also be held at the Saint Joseph’s Parish Hall and will begin at 6:30 p.m.

FUTURE MEETINGS

The Power Fund board of directors will hold meetings in Mount Vernon on August 13th (location to be announced) and in Algona on September 10th at Water’s Edge Nature Center.

Public forums will follow each of these meetings.  Other public forums are tentatively scheduled for Decorah in October, Sioux City in November, and a location in southeastern Iowa in December.
