Former Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain crushed Texas Governor Rick Perry today in a Florida straw poll. Cain had some momentum in Iowa during the spring, but Representative Michele Bachmann quickly eclipsed him with the tea party crowd, and his top Iowa staffers quit in July. Then Cain finished fifth behind Rick Santorum in the Ames straw poll. Could Cain regain traction with conservative Iowa caucus-goers not satisfied with any of the front-runners? Spin your scenarios here.
This is an open thread. What’s on your mind this weekend, Bleeding Heartland readers?

wow
I don’t know what to make of the FL Straw Poll. I’ve seen the analysis….that the main candidates should’ve stayed in the state longer. I don’t know exactly how to articulate it, but it sure seems like the GOP is rudderless. I was thinking it was starting to jell into a two person race-Mitt and Rick, but Perry’s last couple of debate performances have even the true believers wondering…I wonder if Christie is watching all this and going…’good grief…I need to jump in here’.
As for the Demos…I had a dream. BHO sat bolt upright in bed one night and said out loud: “I’m going to lose this thing. (cell phone) “Hello, Hillary?”
Also, he needs to have a press conference. Hasn’t had one since July if memory serves…

Obama
He just gave a televised speach to Congress a couple of weeks ago. That was when Obama also started his so called populist bent. I will believe his populist side when I see it. After all Obama did sign the Bush/Obama tax cuts in December 2010.
