IA-Sen: Will the Democratic Primary be low turnout ?

Democratic candidates and their supporters are welcome to write guest posts at Bleeding Heartland. -promoted by desmoinesdem

It doesn’t have to be, and you are the person that decides.

It is strange in a year of near political revolution in both parties, that people may not vote. The reason may be that the candidates with the money to spread the message have not created a message that is meat for our natural Democratic constituency. In the Iowa Caucuses, the dilemma of stagnant and declining incomes for the poor and middle class was the central focus of debate for all candidates involved. It drew huge crowds for both sides and literally made the Sanders campaign.

Unfortunately for Iowa, in the Senate race that is not the case. I have made the issue of stagnant and declining incomes the central focus of my campaign, because the concern over incomes is universal. And, it is something that is readily blamed on Senator Grassley in his role as former Chair of the Senate Finance Committee. Others have not made it the central focus, and will not be able to rally a broad base to the Democratic cause in November.

There is no doubt that Bleeding Heart fans will mostly vote. They are a wonky bunch, and enjoy the smell of social debate with their morning coffee. The bulk of our nation Democratic base however, is not so wonky but yet very upset. Please view my Get Out the Vote Video at this URL:

and, by all means remind your friends about the Tuesday election.

Bob Krause

  • I encourage all Iowa Democrats to vote

but for what it’s worth, I do expect relatively low turnout on Tuesday, except in a handful of counties.

  • Thanks Bob Krause...

Great message and I’m sure it’ll get carried from the readers of this blog. But I agree with desmoinesdem, the May 26th debate was put on YouTube by IPTV, where I watched it, the video has now been ten days online and has a total of 221 views. I was unable to watch the KCCI debate last week and there is no video or transcript I can find.

The news outlets do not give enough coverage that the candidates get known by those less willing to seek the information.

    • I agree Zbert

As a fairly active Democrat this cycle, I know relatively little about the four candidates running.
